In a world full of Instagram pictures, Pinterest worthy creations, and stunning websites covered with incredibly designs I feel constantly inspired. And sometimes, overwhelmed! As I’ve learned the basics of design, and navigated the complicated tunnels of Adobe Creative Suite, I look at all the inspiration on the web and wonder how I will make my mark.
Designing and becoming a designer is similar to finding my own wardrobe style. I can see what’s in fashion for this season but the reality is going to be what works for me, and how it makes me feel. When I started learning about design principles, I felt more comfortable designing based off of another artist’s concept. That way I could mimic the proportions, or check off the lesson’s guidelines as I understood the landscape of their design. But now I’m on my own! I’ve got to create from ground zero and put those concepts to use!
I love looking at the work that people post on Pinterest and the own portfolio sites. I feel like I can get a great sense of their style, and how they apply that to a diverse and varied number of projects. I’m sure it’s a process that is on going, to find my identity and style has a designer will be an ever changing animal. I guess I’m just excited to soak up all of the inspiration that is available and see what I can come up with.
I look forward to working on projects that challenge me and give me the opportunity to further define my design aesthetic.
